The Shockwave animation illustrates the reaction between ethanoic acid and methanol. The hydroxyl group (nucleophile) of methanol attacks the electrophilic carbonyl carbon of ethanoic acid. The structures on the left can be manipulated by taking advantage of Chime mouse commands. The Shockwave movie to the right demonstrates the movement of electron pairs.
